Sunday again

(Originally posted March 2024)

Look at this thing, it’s huge! The tablet came tuesday and it’s been crazy fun to draw on. I’ve been experimenting with all the custom brushes I have downloaded on Clip Studio, which I’ve had for years, and they feel so much better to use on a screen tablet. And doodling gameplay ideas digitally feels great, although I wish it was a bit easier to have multiple pages going. Maybe there’s a lighter weight program that would be better for doodling like crazy…
Thanks again for all the support on Jeri!

THE MARIO UPDATE
Since last post, I have completed…

0 new mario levels!!

Yeah, definitely not finishing a level pak by thursday. I had a lot of school work this week, and was spending most of my time in-between on Stimbu. But, I’ve planned out what I wanna make more concretely, and I’m feeling good about it! It’ll probably be something I save for when I’m in the mood. It’s a nice break from making games from scratch.

STIMBU DELTA’S CRAZY MECHANIC

So here it is. Enemies can drop one of these four little thingies when killed, and you have an inventory that holds up to two of them at a time. Press x, and it turns whatever’s in your inventory into a powerup!
Combining the red/yellow/blue ones gives you a weapon (which will have limited ammo), and the star will give a passive powerup. I only have threeish weapons done (plus the default one) so far. The programming is quick and simple, but due to PICO-8’s very limited organizational tools, my code has become very messy. I have some spring cleaning to do this week!

COOL GAMES!

I was surprised with two games coming out this week!

This crazy game was made by a good chunk of Sonic Mania’s development staff. 3D games are really hard to make, and I commend their ambition. The game turned out pretty darn good, and I’ve had fun with what I’ve played so far.

The Splatoon 3 single player DLC came out too. It’s pretty neat! Nintendo finally tried their hand at making a roguelite, and I like it well enough so far.

I’m excited about these two games, but I definitely haven’t been able to put enough time into them yet. Maybe I’ll write more after I play more.

RAP UP

well that’s all I have in the tank. I will keep being busy, keep programming things, and if I’m good, keep playing things. See you all next week!
